yalfest 2017!
Dear reader,
After a few months of waiting Yalfest 2017 was finally here! The 2nd.
If you want to read a post about last year's click here --> Yalfest 2016!
Eventhough I am a little bit late to party of reviewing this event.. here we go 😊
What happend?
Let me take you trough the day. I took the train from 'Lelystad Centrum' (which is the train station of my home town) and started my journey to the location. As I approached the building and entered the event my emediat thought was, a really nice big venue! Last year it was alot of people in a little space. So they really did well on getting a bigger venue this year. After about 20 minutes in a row for ticket control I rolled in another queue to put your coat and bags away as you couldn' bring them along. This wasn't as smooth as it could've been in my opinion.
Stands:
Eventually when my coat and bag were in custody, I decided to stroll along the stands. I ended up at the give away stand where you could get free bookmarks and all that jazz. I picked up a few different promo stuff, but also a really cute little book where you can write your to-do list in. A few minutes later I stumbled upon a stand that sold really cool fandom trickets. From jewerly to cups or Harry Potter wands to buttons. I bought a little suprise box from the new Beauty and the beast (as you guys know I am a big fan of the movie! review is right here: __) as I ate my lunch I opend the box and I actually got the Beast! So the excitement was pretty real. There were quite a few more stands, I even bought a new bag and a Hufflepuff candle and like last year I got a 'Tattoo' (absolutley fake ofcourse). And they had a few new stands who were great as well! But it was very crowded at alot of these stand, so more stands or fewer people next year would be better!
The Q and A show:
This year the autors of honor were Lesley Livingston, Veronica Rossi, Megan Shepard, David Arnold, Donna Freitas, Victor Dixen, Gena Showalter and Amy Ewing. It was an amazing show and better then it was last year! Because eventhough I didn't know these authors (or didn't know them very well) It still was a great Q and A. Because of the theatre setting that came with the venue it looked better then last year and everyone had a chance to get a good view. Great show!
Masterclass:
When you buy the ticket you choose a masterclass and I chose Writing a review. The man who gave this Masterclass was a writer from a newspaper here in the Netherlands who writes reviews on books. He gave us some reallt good tips and tricks. The amount of masterclasses were deffinitley better this year and I learned alot from this one!
On a scale from 1 to 10? a solid 7. It was really good, better then last year, but it still needs to grow in my opinion. But overall I had a great time! And I do hope there will be one next year. For more pictures go to the Wannebe Photographer and scroll down to see some more pictures.
Love, me.
