Holding up the Universe by Jennifer Niven
Dear reader,
I have come out of my reading slump and started reading again with Holding up the universe by Jennifer Niven. And boy do I need to talk about this..

Overall opinion (spoiler free):
This book became while reading very special to me. The way they were thinking, what Libby was going through. It all kind of smacked me in the face. First, the writing. Before this I have read All the bright places from the same author and loved this one as well, so I had high hopes. The writing was in my opinion? beautiful! The way these characters were described by one another, it felt like you were there and you felt wat they were feeling. It really felt like I was right there. The plotline was not very suprising, no major plottwists, But it did make you think: 'But what happend then?' 'Are we gonna know what the big happening was that changed this characters life?' So it is suprsising but not ground breaking.
Detailled opinion (SPOILERS!):
As I said I loved how Libby and Jack were connected. A really good example is towards the end, where we found out that Jack and his brothers were Dean, Castille and Sam and Libby founds out that the person sending Libby her favourite book was actually Jack and that he was rooting for her all this time. The message that Libby brought with the purple bikinni and the letter in the book was amazing for me. I loved her self confidence, it gave mine a boost too and I am pretty sure it will give one to alot of you too.
Let me know in the comments what your thoughts were on the book and this review!
Love,
me.

I have come out of my reading slump and started reading again with Holding up the universe by Jennifer Niven. And boy do I need to talk about this..
Summary from Goodreads:
Everyone
thinks they know Libby Strout, the girl once dubbed “America’s Fattest Teen.”
But no one’s taken the time to look past her weight to get to know who she
really is. Following her mom’s death, she’s been picking up the pieces in the
privacy of her home, dealing with her heartbroken father and her own grief.
Now, Libby’s ready: for high school, for new friends, for love, and for every
possibility life has to offer. Everyone
thinks they know Jack Masselin, too. Yes, he’s got swagger, but he’s also
mastered the impossible art of giving people what they want, of fitting in.
What no one knows is that Jack has a newly acquired secret: he can’t recognize
faces. Even his own brothers are strangers to him. He’s the guy who can
re-engineer and rebuild anything, but he can’t understand what’s going on with
the inner workings of his brain. So he tells himself to play it cool: Be
charming. Be hilarious. Don’t get too close to anyone. Until he meets
Libby. When the two get tangled up in a cruel high school game—which lands them
in group counseling and community service—Libby and Jack are both pissed, and
then surprised. Because the more time they spend together, the less alone they
feel.
